What are the benefits of Crypton Tuning your car. A smooth running engine that is tuned for peak performance and reliability. Crypton tuning is not just setting the tuning data to manufacturers specification it’s a full health check on your engine, carburettor and ignition system. The automated test program that the Crypton equipment runs through will highlight faults in cylinder condition as well as a full detailed check on all the ignition components as well as carburettor efficiency backed up by a full gas emission analysis.

Other benefits of having your classic car Crypton tuned are the automated test program that the Crypton program performs, these include ignition system analysis identifying low voltage and duration problems leading to a weaker spark affecting starting and performance. Distributor advance curves , checks on the ignition timing advance devices such as vacuum advance and centrifugal advance and problems relating to managed advanced systems such as programmed maps and sensors. Ignition dwell, problems relating to points and condenser faults as well as electronic dwell setting. Coil output including DIS systems with wasted spark, low  coil voltage and slow duration can affect both starting and performance.

Should any ignition faults show up on the automatic ignition tests these can be followed up with closer diagnosis using the Crypton digital oscilloscope with advance features able to video and play back misfires and duration problems in real time, ignition faults are highlighted in red clearly showing where the faults are.

Carburettor tuning and balancing, using a high specification emissions analyser including CO HC and O2 readings and the ability to measure cylinder output in a digital format plus the use of vacuum readings, we now have all the tools to balance carburettors accurately and diagnose the problems relating to high emissions and lumpy running.

Later classic cars with early Lucas fuel injection systems and Bosch KE Jetronic and LE Jetronic systems are all covered by the Crypton test equipment proving detailed diagnosis using the Crypton digital oscilloscope.

Cylinder condition and engine power balance tests are a very important part of the Crypton tune up, unlike traditional compression testing  the Crypton power balance test provides detailed information where the power distribution is on an engine, this test is carried out with the engine running and provides us with individual cylinder performance, a great aid for follow up diagnostic work and balancing carburettors.
